The unintended horseplay was unbridled behind-the-scenes of “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.”
Just say “Nayyyyyy” to arrogant elven king speeches.
That’s what this stubborn horse is definitely saying with his moving hooves on the set of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, finally making it out on Blu-Ray.
Every time Lee Pace begins a dramatic speech as his stoic Thranduil, his steed starts moving dramatically off his mark. “It would never fail,” the good-natured Pace laments. Watch for yourself.
Pace kept the acting going admirably on the moving horse in the stern speech directed to the off-camera dwarf Thorin. But, as set art director Ben Milsom points out, “There’s only so far you can go, especially when Thorin is talking to a horse’s ass.”
Maybe the horse was a keen critic.
“I think he’s objecting to the performance,” says Pace.
The extended Battle of the Five Armies is filled with great extras like this, we’ve seen them all, when it’s out on Blu-Ray on Tuesday (the film is available on Digital HD now).
