They know Captain America really well, but now Anthony and Joe Russo are getting to play with Marvel Studios’ A-team.
The Russos have been tapped to direct the blockbuster two-part Avengers: Infinity War event, taking over the reins of the superhero group from Joss Whedon. Avengers: Infinity War — Part 1 is scheduled to be released in theaters May 2018 with Part 2 arriving a year later.
Whedon’s next film in the franchise, Avengers: Age of Ultron, opens in theaters May 1.
After directing the comedy You, Me and Dupree and episodes of Community and Arrested Development, the Russo brothers made their Marvel debut in 2014 with the sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which grossed $715 million globally.
