Move over, Britney: J.Lo’s headed to Vegas

Jennifer Lopez will have to be careful when she kicks off her Las Vegas residency next year: The place is called Sin City for a reason.

“It’s the best restaurants, a lot of shopping. You can get into trouble over there,” Lopez says with a laugh. “I get into the clean kind of trouble. I’m not a gambler, and I’m not into the nightlife as much, but I have plans to enjoy myself.”

Lopez put more than a year of rumors to bed Tuesday night by announcing the Vegas residency on American Idol, where she serves as a judge, and which will end next spring after 15 seasons.

Her still-untitled Vegas show will open Jan. 20 at the Axis theater at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino (current home of Britney Spears’ Piece of Me show), where it will continue for 19 more dates across January, February, May and June. An American Express cardholders’ pre-sale begins Wednesday (1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT), before tickets go on sale to the general public Saturday (1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT).

Lopez isn’t a typical Vegas candidate, given her already-brimming workload. After releasing her eighth (and lowest-selling) album A.K.A. last summer, the 45-year-old singer stayed busy writing a book (True Love, released last fall), starring in the erotic thriller The Boy Next Door in January, and signing on to NBC cop drama Shades of Blue, premiering sometime next season.
