Love Island: ‘There’s nothing wrong with an age gap!’ Caroline Flack, 39, pokes fun at her own romantic past during Harley and Chris’ Aftersun interview

She famously dated Harry Styles when he was 17 and she was 31 in 2011.

And Caroline Flack, 39, amused viewers when she poked fun at her own romantic past on Sunday night’s installment of Aftersun.

The presenter was in the midst of interviewing dumped islanders Chris Taylor, 28, and Harley Brash, 20, when Chris revealed he had initially been concerned about their eight-year age gap.

In response to his admission, Caroline quipped: ‘There’s nothing wrong with an age gap!’

The TV host’s comment didn’t go unnoticed, with fans of the show taking to Twitter to express their shock.

One typed: ‘Caroline flack sayin age is just a number to Chris and Harley on aftersun has made ma night (sic)’.

Another contributed: ‘caroline flack saying there’s nothing wrong with an age gap has me in tears #LoveIsIand’.

Another social media user typed: ‘Did Caroline Flack really just say an age gap isn’t an issue….’

A fourth added: ‘As if caroline flack said there’s nothing wrong with an age gap.’

Caroline has a penchant for younger men as she has a catalogue of younger exes including Harry, now 25, Olly Murs, 35, Jack Street, 31, and her latest serious ex Andrew Brady, 28, who she was engaged to.

Meanwhile, she was linked to model Lewis Burton, 27, just last week after the pair were spotted dining at London hotspot Dean Street Townhouse.

The down-to-earth presenter insisted that age is just a number for her, saying it is never a factor when she meets a potential match.

‘I try not to think about it. I could date someone that’s 20, someone that’s 104 but I’d just rather date someone nice’, she said during a recent appearance on Shopping With Keith Lemon.

Elsewhere, Harley and Chris confirmed they are an official couple during the interview after Caroline probed, ‘Are you allowed to date other people?’

To which they coyly replied: ‘No.’ ‘So you’re exclusive?’ the leggy presenter pried.

She continued, ‘Congratulations!’, followed by the audience cheering for the happy couple.

The episode also saw the most recently dumped couple Anton Danyluk, 24, and Belle Hassan, 21, speaking to Caroline, where the Scottish lad revealed why he is yet to make Belle his girlfriend.

He said: ‘If I’m honest, I’m just a realist in there. Literally I’ve been true to myself the whole way through, and I think you’re spending 24 hours a day with each other in the villa but when you come out that’s not going to be the case.

‘You’ll see each other once or twice a week. So I wanted to see how that would go once we got out. Get the chance to do that, and then once I know after a week or two, then we can move on.’

Belle agreed, as she added: ‘It’s all come together so quickly, you’ve gotta test things. And I think it’s not a light comment, saying someone’s your girlfriend or boyfriend. I don’t take that lightly.’

Sunday’s episode of Love Island was full of drama as it the final elimination of the series took place before the final on Monday.

Anton and Belle – who coupled up mid-way through the process – found themselves axed with a mere 24 hours to go before the 2019 finale, narrowly missing out on the chance of winning the £50k prize.

The dumping took place after the contestants met each other’s families, who were unleashed on the villa earlier in the episode.

Love Island 2019 concludes on Monday night from 9PM on ITV2.
