She is one of Hollywood’s mot acclaimed actresses.
And Kerry Washington looked every inch the film star as she attended a cultural event hosted by Spotify and Hulu during Cannes Lions 2019 in Cannes, France on Monday.
The actress, 42, cut a glamorous figure in a dark green dress with a detailed sheer cut out and a shimmering pleated finish.
Adding height to her frame with a pair of heels, Kerry styled her raven locks into a plait for the event.
She was joined at the event by other famous faces including Russell Wilson and Wyclef Jean.
Kerry became a household name starring as Olivia Pope in Scandal for seven seasons, which concluded last year.
She said she ‘kind of fell into’ producing, with her first credit being Confirmation in 2016.
The next projects for her production company, named Simpson Street after the street her mom grew up in in the Bronx, are The Mothers, The Perfect Mother, an adaption of Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng and a comedy called 24-7 with Eva Longoria.
Kerry is working with Reese Witherspoon on Little Fires Everywhere; Reese told Marie Claire magazine that Kerry is ‘the real deal as a producer and as an actress.’
Reese said: ‘An actor was trying to decide if he wanted to star in the movie, and he wanted other actors to read the script out loud. Turns out Kerry and I were the only ones prepared.’
She added: ‘We both memorized our lines and brought a full performance. In that moment, I realized I had met a kindred spirit.’
Kerry, who calls herself a ‘nerdy theater kid,’ will return to her theater roots on November 4 in the play American Son.
Kerri and her husband Nnamdi Asomugha, 37, are parents to daughter Isabelle Amarachi, four, and son Caleb Kelechi, two.
