Harry Potter’s Hollywood ‘World’ opens 2016

“The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” attraction is headed to Universal Studios Hollywood in the spring of 2016, the theme park announced on Tuesday.

The Harry Potter attraction, based on the best-selling J.K. Rowling children’s books and the blockbuster movies that followed, has been five years in the making for the Hollywood location.

“The momentum behind J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world is as strong as ever and we are incredibly excited to bring Hogwarts to Hollywood,” said Brad Globe, president ofWarner Bros. consumer products, in a press release Tuesday.

The Hollywood attraction will be similar toWizarding World” attractions at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Japan.

Visitors will enter a fully immersive themed land that brings the Harry Potter world to life faithful to the visual landscape of the fiction and films — including Hogwarts Castle, which will serve as the attraction’s focal point.

Sporting Quidditch-inspired glasses, guests will watch a Quidditch match, narrowly escape a dragon attack and have a close encounter with the Whomping Willow from the books — all in hyper-realistic 3D-HD.

“Flight of the Hippogriff” will also debut as Universal Studios Hollywood’s first outdoor coaster.
