Harlan Coben derails ‘Girl on the Train’

Harlan Coben is no stranger to USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list. His new thriller, The Stranger(Dutton), lands at No. 1 this week. (The full list will publish on Thursday.)

Coben derails The Girl on the Train (Riverhead), which drops to No. 2. Paula Hawkins’ debut psychological thriller spent five straight weeks at No. 1, from Feb. 26-March 26. (It first hit No. 1 on Feb. 12.) Train, the twisty story of bad marriages and a missing woman, has been the breakout hit of 2015, selling more than 1 million copies so far.

The Stranger, about a vigilante who exposes secret online activities and destroys a marriage, is the second Coben thriller to land at No. 1. Six Years also did so in 2013. Coben has had 19 USA TODAY best sellers; eight have made the top 10.
