The bright lights of Broadway lit up the ballroom for Showstoppers Night Monday on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.
Tony Award winner Idina Menzel picked up some paddles as a guest judge, joining Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough, and Bruno Tonioli, and performed Queen of Swords from her album Idina.
Two-time DWTS champ Mark Ballas returned home with his Jersey Boys in tow. The pro, currently playing Frankie Valli on Broadway, sang Sherry and assisted Derek Hough and Marilu Henner during their performance of December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night).
With their flawless dancing in the first round and the team-up challenge, the evening belonged to Jana Kramer and Laurie Hernandez. Here are the top five numbers worthy of standing ovations:
1. Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko
This waltz from Waitress is just what the customer ordered. Though inflammation and fluid in Gleb’s knee almost sidelined him, the pro choreographed a beautiful number that, paired with Jana’s acting skills, was truly touching. Julianne called the dance to She Used to Be Mine “beautiful storytelling” and gave kudos to Jana for performing from the heart.
